FAQs
What is the cost of each tour length?
Two-Hour Charter (the Monument Tour) is $1,075
Three-Hour Charter is $1,500
Four-Hour Charter is $2,000
Three-Hour Dockside Event is $1,000
Is fuel included in the price?
Fuel is included in the price of the charter. The only expense not included in the charter price is the customary tip for the Captain.
How do we pay for the charter?
The “Book a Charter” page will allow you to directly book a date, time, and tour length. This reservation system will ask for credit card information to charge for the reservation in full.
Alternatively, send us an email and we can walk you through details and scheduling.
What is the cancellation/refund policy?
14 days or more from reservation date: 100% refund
14 days to 8 days from reservation date: 50% refund
7 days or less from reservation date: No refund
How many people can be on the tour?
Southern Cross hosts a maximum group size of six people. The Captain and First Mate will also be onboard.
What is included in the Dockside Event?
Not interested in the full charter tour? Do you have more than six people in mind for your event? Southern Cross will tie up to any public access dock (including the Georgetown Wall, Navy Yard Pier, or the WharfDC) and host your event. The boat is yours for three hours.
What if I want to charter for more than four hours?
Send us an email! We are happy to create a longer, more custom charter option.
What are the dress restrictions?
High heels are not ideal for boating conditions and should not be worn.
Sneakers should have light soles, as dark soles will smudge and stain the deck of the boat.
Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. This may include jackets or warm layers should the weather be on the cooler side.
What are the food and drink restrictions?
Guests may bring any food or drink for their charter, including alcoholic beverages (except red wine).
What about bad weather?
Should weather conditions be such that the charter will be dangerous including intense wind or lightning, the charter guest has the option of moving the reservation to a different date or requesting a full refund.
Should weather just be unpleasant, including rain-showers, Southern Cross Ventures does not guarantee the charter will be rescheduled and will not automatically provide a refund. We’re here to find a solution that works for all parties. It is important to note there is room on the inside of the salon with large windows, so a pleasant tour is possible even with some rain.
Can the Departure location be different from the Return location?
Typically, charters will depart and return to the Georgetown Waterfront Seawall. Other arrangements can be accommodated including the locations on the Tours & Destinations page - just send us an email from the Contact Us page.
Are pets allowed on tours?
No pets are allowed onboard Southern Cross.
